JAV'S TOY CHEST....

I couldn't resist to post pictures of some old toys I used to have as a boy.
I think everyone, every now and then likes to take a peek back in the past.

Today, I have my son and daughter, and one of my absolute joys is watching them grow, and watching them play with their toys.  I love seeing them receive new toys, and play using their imaginations, etc.  It's so much fun being a youngster again but this time, through their eyes.

On Ebay, I found these vintage toys being sold that brought me SO MUCH JOY as a boy.  It was awesome seeing these toys again.     Like most boys, I loved action figures and cars.   My brother, Steve liked action figures also and train/race sets.

Steve and I were about the same age, and whenever any of us got a new toy, the other one would also.  And we would often play together w/ our toys.

The most profound joy about seeing these toys again is that they bring back memories of my family when we were together - growing up.  It brings me memories of my brother who has since passed away, my sisters, my parents.... all those awesome and magical Christmases we had together, etc....

The music, the food, the gatherings, the family, and the anticipation of Christmas..... AND TOYS!!!!     Aw man, toys were everything to me back then.

Oh, the memories.   Now, in God's grace, new memories will be created with my wife, son and daughter.

Many people who view this blog will remember a lot of these toys, and you'll be able to walk down memory lane also.    Enjoy!  :)

........................

I played with this little guy so many times!

This was a really cool Christmas gift from my aunt.

This little silly toy brings me back memories to a time when my mom bought me this little finger puppet toy called "Adventure Boy".  And I believe it was from a grocery store.

I think my mom got me these b/c she knew I had a thing for monkeys and King Kong. :)

A very early 70's gift.

Big Jim was one of my favorites. I think I had about 3 of them, including one my brother had.

I had this bozo but I can't remember where I got him.  Many, many years ago.

Bulletman was actually a GI Joe series toy.  I didn't know that.  But my big bro. bought him for me from a bodega, of all places.  :)

Stevie had The Lone Ranger and Silver, the horse for MANY years.  We never got Tonto though.

This awesome hulk was given to me by my uncle Nicolas and his family.  I had this hulk for a very long time.

My dad got "Marvel the Mustang" for Steve very early on. This toy was around for a long time too.

A lot of these Matchbox cars I remember having and playing with so many times.  Too cool!

This weird one, was one of my ultimate favorites!

This was one of my fav. jeeps.  I also had a lot of HotWheels cars too.

Prob. one of my most played with toys.  My mom bought me Pegleg. I didn't know he was part of Matchbox.

Pulsar was part of the SixMillionDollar Man series. I had Steve Austin and Pulsar. He was really cool, and also I believe a Christmas gift from one of my uncles.

We never had Raideen from a cartoon series that used to come on late a night.  Steve always wanted this guy but I think it was my mom who found the Dragun robot instead.

Steve had at least two of these.  One of these sets were from Uncle Nicolas, I think.  We loved them!

This rubber Batman I believe my mom bought me during one our many shopping trips in order to keep me under control  I loved this batman.

I was also a huge Spiderman fan. In fact, he was my favorite super hero next to The Fantastic Four.

These were little Sesame St. figurines that were given to us in bulk by an aunt who worked in a factory where they made these guys.  We loved them and they were always around.  Today, they're extremely hard to find.  When they were new, they had a distinct "rubbery" smell to them.  I could smell them now!  lol

My brother desperately wanted Raideen but when my mom went out looking for him w/ my bro., we could only find Dragun and another one... so we got Dragun.  He was pretty big too!

Another one from the 6MillionDollar Man series, my brother was given "BigFoot" when I got Steve Austin.

This one tales me back to the most magical Christmases I've ever had.  When I got my first Stretch Armstrong, I remember all the commercials, and the days leading up to that Christmas in so much excitement. When he broke and his jelly was coming out of him, I refused to throw him away but kept him for what seemed like forever in my closet like a patient in a hospital.  :(  Nice to see you again Stretch!

Steve had Stretch Monster. It was exciting when he came out.  Steve took really good care of him too.

I think this was my brother's first race set.
